Dog-friendly Pub Awards 2019 – Award Rules

1) CONTEST RULES

  • A Place for Rover, Inc. (“Rover”), with an office at 40 Camden Street, London, N7 6DD, United Kingdom, is the sponsor of ‘The Dog-friendly Pub Awards’ (the “Contest”).
  • Entry into the Contest is free and no purchase (or other form of indirect payment) is required to enter. The Contest is open to all legal residents of and pubs located in the United Kingdom. Entrants must be at least 18 years or older as of 00:01am (BST) 25th September, 2019.
  • The Contest is not open to employees of Rover or their immediate families and household members, or Rover’s affiliates, participating vendors, distributors, advertising and promotion agencies (collectively, the “Contest Entities”).
  • The Contest is governed by the laws of England and subject to all applicable laws and regulations and entrants to the Contest submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
  • By nominating a pub or accepting a Prize or otherwise participating in the Contest, entrants agree to accept and be bound by all terms of these Rules and confirm that they are eligible.
  • Should an entrant no longer wish to take part in the Contest, they may contact Rover at pubs.rover.com/contact-us to request removal of their pub and associated assets from the Contest.
  • Removal of a pub will be handled at Rover’s earliest convenience and take no longer than 120 hours to conduct. Proof of identity may be requested in order to verify ownership of the pub (and thus the associated listing) before removal.
  • Entrants shall use any and all creative assets provided by Rover solely in accordance with the usage guidelines provided by Rover therewith. Failure to do so may result in ineligibility for the Contest, at Rover’s sole discretion.

2) HOW TO ENTER

  • The Contest will be open from 00:01am (BST) 25th September 2019 through 11:59pm (GMT) 6th November 2019 inclusive (the “Promotional Period”).
  • To enter the Contest, pubs must be listed on www.pubs.rover.com during the Promotional Period.
  • A pub may already be listed on the website, alternatively a pub can be nominated via the ‘Add a Pub’ form online. No other form of Entry (defined in Section 3 below) (e.g. phone, email, or written submission) will be accepted. To be eligible, all Entries must be received no later than 11:59pm (GMT) on the last day of the Promotional Period.
  • Upon submission by nomination, each Entry will automatically become the property of Rover. Any data we receive will be held in accordance with Rover’s Privacy Statement. Unless you have already subscribed to receive communications from us, the email address, mailing address and phone number you provide will be used only for purposes of the Contest in accordance with our Privacy Statement.
  • Rover is not required to provide copies of any Entry. If you wish to have a copy of your submission, please retain a copy.
  • Rover is not responsible for misdirected, incomplete, lost, or late Entries, technical, hardware, or software failures, whether human, mechanical, typographical, electronic or otherwise, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions or other errors or problems which may limit or affect a person’s ability to participate in the Contest. Rover will not accept proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of Entry into the Contest.
  • In the event of sabotage, acts of God, terrorism or threats thereof, computer virus or other events or causes beyond the Sponsor’s reasonable control, which corrupt the integrity, administration, security or proper operation of the Contest, Rover reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend the Contest. If any modifications become necessary, Rover will inform and provide an overview of the relevant modifications to all participants by email.
  • In the event of cancellation, Rover reserves the right to award prizes from among all eligible, non-suspect Entries received prior to the event requiring such cancellation.
  • Use of inaccurate or false information in Entries to the competition is strictly prohibited. If inaccurate or false information is provided, we reserve the right to disqualify your Entry.
  • Rover shall not be held responsible for incorrect or incomplete pub information. Should information about a pub require updating, participants can update their pub listing via their ‘Landlord Hub’: www.pubs.rover.com/dashboard.
  • Proof of identity may be requested in order to verify ownership of the pub (and thus the associated listing) before updating information.
  • You may submit an Entry from anywhere in the UK. Entries made from elsewhere in the world will not be counted.
  • Multiple nominations are permitted. Each listed pub shall constitute one (1) Entry.
  • Rover is not required to publish voting data once voting has closed at 11:59pm (GMT) on 6th November.

3) HOW TO WIN

Regional Winners:

  • Twelve (12) regional winners (one per region as described below) will be chosen from all existing participating pubs and eligible completed nominations (“Entries”) received by the end of the Promotional Period.
  • Regional winners will be chosen based on the number of eligible votes obtained per pub during the Promotional Period. Rover’s decision of the winners and the eligibility of votes will be final and binding.
  • The regional Contest winners will be chosen by November 8th, 2019 and informed by email and/or phone as soon as practicable after verification. Winners must accept their prize within 2 business days of notification.
  • The 12 x UK regions are defined as: London, Scotland, North West, North East, Yorkshire, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, South West, South East, Wales, Northern Ireland. A pub’s location within a region is determined solely by its postcode and at the absolute discretion of Rover.

The 2019 Dog-friendly Pub of the Year:

  • The one (1) national dog-friendly pub of the year will be chosen by a panel of five judges, from the shortlist of 12 regional winners.
  • The national winner will be decided by November 18th, 2019 and informed by email and/or phone as soon as practicable. The winner must accept within 2 business days of notification.
  • The judging panel’s decisions are final, and Rover reserves the right to withdraw or transfer the award at its absolute discretion.
  • Judges will base their decision on the following criteria:
    • Are water bowls always available – inside and outside?
    • Does the pub offer dog treats behind the bar?
    • Is there clear signage saying that dogs are welcome?
    • Are owners and their dogs generally being made to feel welcome?
    • Is there somewhere shaded during warm weather for dogs to lay?
    • Is there somewhere owners can eat inside with dogs?
    • Is there a separate area where people can go if they’re not comfortable around dogs?
    • Does the website make it clear that dogs are allowed?
    • Does the pub offer a quiet area for the dogs away from the main noise of the pub?
    • Is the pub near a dog walking route?
    • Are there any ‘pet etiquette’ rules e.g. dogs should be under control whilst at the pub?
    • Is there a place for muddy boots and wet paws to be left/dried?

4) PRIZES

The following prizes will be awarded:

12 x Regional Winners:

  • Description of Prize: A Rover ‘Dog-friendly Pub’ trophy treat jar and dog-friendly pub plaque. Approximate retail value: £53.
  • Regional winners will receive their Prize in late-November 2019. There is no cash value if winners choose not to claim their Prize.

1 x UK Dog-friendly Pub of the Year:

  • Description of Prize: A Rover ‘Dog-friendly Pub’ trophy treat jar, plus a year’s supply of dog treats, and dog-friendly pub plaque. Approximate retail value: £153.
  • Rover may wish to present the Prize at the winning pub.
  • Prize is non-negotiable and non-refundable. Winner is not entitled to any substitution or transfer of the Prize (or any portion thereof) or cash redemptions. Rover reserves the right to substitute any prize(s) of like value for any reason whatsoever.
  • The winner is responsible for the reporting and payment of all taxes (if any).
  • The Prize is provided to the applicable winner “as is” and “with all faults.” Rover does not provide any guarantee concerning the winner’s satisfaction with their Prize.
  • Rover hereby disclaims all warranties of any kind with respect to the Prize, whether express, implied, statutory or otherwise, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular use or purpose and non-infringement. To the extent such disclaimer conflicts with applicable law, the scope and duration of any applicable warranty will be the minimum permitted under such law.

5) ALTERNATIVE WINNERS; DISCLAIMER

  • If: (i) any Prize or Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, (ii) a potential winner declines his or her Prize or (iii) a potential winner fails to comply with any of the Rules as outlined herein, such potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be determined at Rover’s sole discretion.
  • In the event more winner notifications are issued, or more winning prize claims are received, than the number of Prizes set forth in these Rules due to computer, printing, seeding, human, or other error or problem, a random drawing will take place from among all eligible prize claims for the Prize(s) at issue to award the proper number of Prizes as set forth in these Rules.
  • No more than the stated number of Prizes per these Rules will be awarded.

6) PUBLICITY AND OTHER TERMS

  • By claiming a Prize, you hereby authorize the use, without additional compensation, of your name, photograph, likeness, details of the country and/or city where you live, any comments made by or attributed to you for the sole purpose of promoting and marketing the Contest, including but not limited to, any audio/visual recording or broadcast for such promotional purposes, in any media, throughout the world.

Dog-friendly Pub Awards 2019 – Prize Draw Rules

1) PRIZE DRAW RULES

  • A Place for Rover, Inc. (“Rover”) is the sponsor of ‘The Dog-friendly Pub Award Prize Draw’ (the “Prize Draw”).
  • Entry into the Prize Draw is free and no purchase (or other form of indirect payment) is required to enter. The Prize Draw is open to all legal residents of the United Kingdom. Entrants must be at least 18 years or older as of 00:01am (BST) 25th September, 2019.
  • The Prize Draw is not open to employees of Rover or their immediate families and household members, or Rover’s affiliates, participating vendors, distributors, advertising and promotion agencies (collectively, the “Prize Draw Entities”).
  • The Prize Draw is governed by the laws of England and subject to all applicable laws and regulations, and entrants to the Contest submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
  • By entering the Prize Draw, entrants agree to accept and be bound by all terms of these Rules and confirm that they are eligible.

2) HOW TO ENTER

  • The Prize Draw will be open from 00:01am (BST) 25th September 2019 through 11:59pm (GMT) 6th November 2019 inclusive (the “Promotional Period”).
  • To enter the Prize Draw, participants must visit http://www.pubs.rover.com and complete a vote submission, or nominate a pub by submitting an ‘Add a Pub’ form (collectively, the “Entries”). No other form of Entry (eg. phone, email, or written submission) will be accepted.
  • To be eligible, all Entries must include an email address and be received no later than 11:59pm (GMT) on the last day of the Promotional Period.
  • Upon submission, each Entry will automatically become the property of Rover. Any data we receive will be held in accordance with Rover’s Privacy Statement. Unless you have already subscribed to receive communications from us, the email address, mailing address and phone number you provide will be used only for purposes of the Prize Draw in accordance with our Privacy Statement.

  • One (1) winner will be chosen at random from all eligible and completed Entries received by the end of the Promotional Period. The winner will be chosen using www.random.org.
  • Rover’s allocation of the Prize will be final and binding. The Prize Draw winner will be chosen by November 8th 2019 and informed by email and/or phone as soon as practicable after verification. Winners must accept their prize within 3 business days of notification.
  • Please note: odds of winning depend on the number of eligible Entries received.

4) THE PRIZE

The following prizes will be awarded:

  • Description of Prize: A hamper of gifts for you and your dog, with an approximate retail value of £1,000
  • No substitution or transfer of the Prize or cash redemption is permitted by the winner. Rover reserves the right to substitute any prize(s) of like value for any reason whatsoever.
  • The winner is responsible for the reporting and payment of all taxes (if applicable).
  • The Prize is provided to the applicable winner “as is” and “with all faults.” Rover does not provide any guarantee concerning the winner’s satisfaction with their Prize.

If you object to any or all of your surname and county being made available, please contact Rover at privacy@rover.com. In such circumstances, Rover must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
