The Calder Vale Hotel was built in 1874 and was re-opened in April 2019 after a 2 year renovation by the Luddite Brewing Co Ltd. The pub operates as the brewery tap and is situated close to the Calder river and canal, and the Horbury lagoons, all of which are popular local dog walking areas. The renovation was carried out with dog-friendliness being one of our primary considerations. Yorkshire stone and original Victorian floorboards have been exposed and are easily cleaned. Rugged original cast-iron tables and bentwood chairs enable customers to relax safe in the knowledge their furry friends are not causing damage to furniture or inconvenience to other customers. We have fenced off the large rear beer garden so that animals (and children!) can play off-leash without access to the road. Water bowls are available in all three large ground floor rooms and in the garden. Free dog treats are always available at the bar.
