Lovely doggie friendly pub. Dogs allowed inside and out. We always recommend this to our friends with/without pets. Great to walk over Fosse Meadows (lovely walks), along the footpath and get a drink where the dog is welcome. (please note their website seems to not work at moment but dont let that put you off – details are on Trip Advisor)
Don’t just go on a Sunday. All days are good days.
We have been coming here for years with first our Irish wolfhounds now Geoff the Newfoundland we love this place the atmosphere is relaxed friendly and Steve and the staff genuinely LOVE dogs always fresh water always a treat or 10 a fire to dry by in the winter paddling pool in the summer heat and cuddles are plentiful for Geoff many times Steve is on the floor with him wet and muddy Steve dosnt care Geoff has been going since a puppy he is now 4 the nicest thing is u walk in and dogs are spark out all over the floor relaxed people eating meals drinking chatting it’s not false or forced it’s a genuine dog loving boozer that I’m sure the dogs pick up on which is why they are so at home there you won’t find a better place we love it here .and so does Geoff
Love this place always so welcoming I’d been bringing my dogs here for years Steve and the staff really do love dogs they always get treats a roaring fire to dry out by in the winter and don’t worry about the size of your dog either we have had wolfhounds who have loved it here and now Geoff the Newfoundland who has been going since a puppy wet or dry he’s always made a fuss of fresh water and all the cuddles he could wish for thank you Steve and staff.
The landlord and staff absolutely love dogs. I’ve never known a pub so accommodating above and beyond for dogs. They also have a doggy Sunday where the more dogs that go the merrier.
My two pooches love this pub. Everyone is happy with the dogs being there and they love getting treats from the owner. You feel comfortable having a drink without having to worry about other people and there are some lovely walks around. They had a great Calander on sale if all the dogs that go there too! 🙂
Hello my name is Stephanie and I am pleased I have been able to vote and make a comment on this Dog Friendly Pub. I am American and live in Denver Colorado. I first came to the Sharnford Arms Pub about 2 years ago with my boyfriend and his family and this Doggie Friendly Pub has just blown me away ever since. We do not have anywhere like this in Colorado where by you can take your Dog into a pub and your Dog is treated with such love and respect. The Owner and his Staff are aware of Doggies needs and what is required to keep them safe. The dogs receive doggie treats, fresh drinking water, photos and at times I believe they are given a rosette.
I visited the pub on 1st July which was Doggie Sunday and I arrived at the Sharnford with my 6 bridesmaids and parents. We came straight from Heathrow Airport after a 9 hour flight to have a lovely Chinese Meal (Chinese meal was fab – Thank you chef) we also had a lovely beer and cider. My friends and family know of the Sharnford as I tell them all about it and the great Doggie friendliness. So they all said we need to go to the Sharnford Arms as you talk about it so much and they loved it. In fact I have just arrived back in the UK and I will be going to Doggies Sunday tomorrow 2nd Sept.
Brits be really proud of the Sharnford Arms and the way Doggies are treated, it is a traditional and cosy pub (love the fire in the winter months . Good job Sharnford Arms and I give my vote ????

Brits be really proud of the Sharnford Arms and the way Doggies are treated it is a traditional, cosy pub with a lots of history and we just wish we would be able to visit more often and bring our own Dogs to the pub
I cast my vote for the Sharnford Arms as it is the best Doggie Friendly Pub
LOVE THIS PUB all my dogs drag me here they love it, so friendly and Steve makes so much fuss of them, one day my dog was filthy up he took her to the shower and washed her for me. LOVE it
One amazing pub, landlord and staff love all the dogs that come in, lots of treat and water to hand, all are made to feel so welcome. Dogs are allowed in the Chinese restaurant and they are so well behaved.
the beer and drinks are great too, such a great village pub.
Great pub, dogs are so welcome and they always get a great fuss from Steve the owner. He will also take your dog in the shower if your dog needs a wash. Always treats and water to hand and they try to cater for any dogs needs.
Its a great pub for people too lovely Chinese food and great beer.
Doggie sunday is the fist Sunday of every month and they also do doggie birthday parties
I’ve been bringing my Toby here for years and he loves it. It doesn’t matter to Steve, the owner, or his fabulous staff, all dog friendly, if we are wet and muddy from our x-country walk, we are still welcome..especially Toby.
There are always dog treats on the bar and if it’s hot on a Doggy Sunday then a canine paddling pool for a cooling soak is readily available. In the winter there is a roaring fire to warm up and dry by while drinking a good beer or a hot coffee. If you happen to be hungry then there is the Chinese restaurant to sit and
eat with your dog at your
feet. The Sharnford Arms is my favourite dog friendly pub…ever.
Best pub we have ever experienced ( and we have experienced many) for making dogs feel as welcome as their owners. Friendly atmosphere always- consistently high quality customer service. The landlord knows his business very well- keeping customers and their dogs happy and feeling welcome. A great pub for dog lovers and normal people!
This is the best pub for dogs, they get a very warm welcome and are allowed in the Chinese restaurant. The owner adores dogs and always has a treat for them and plenty of water. It serves great food and beer, cant wait for the open fire to go on
This is a great family, dog friendly pub, hosting special events such as ‘doggy Sundays’. Dogs are made to feel very welcome both inside & outside the pub.
Most dog friendliest pub around, we come here most sundays with our dog and she is made to feel so welcome (as are we) but the staff and owner Steve at the sharnford arms go the extra mile when it comes to dogs! Our dog is the fussiest dog ever with treats and turns her nose up at them when she gets offered them, so Steve and other member of staff go out their way to give our dog steak and sausages! When the weather was hot there was dog paddling pools and lots more to make sure the dogs are looked after! Can’t recombed this pub enough! Defo have to visit with your pooch
Excellent Dog-friendly pub. The pub owner and all staff are very aware of the needs and requirements of Dogs for safety and kindness. Also the Dog owners themselves are aware of what the pub offers for their dogs. We noted that if a Dog was not too friendly or noted to be a little apprehensive of other Dogs, the owner would take his time to reassure the dog and help where at all possible. There are doggie treats available if the owner is happy for there dog to receive also water is always fresh and available. During the hot summer weather this year shady areas and wash tubs were available. I would highly recommend and vote The Sharnford Arms as a Dog Friendly Pub
The Sharnford Arms in the best ‘dog friendly’ pubs I have ever come across. Apart from a friendly welcome, superb food and beer, the dogs are made to feel like first class citizens. A fuss is always made over them and dog treats are the norm. A special note should be made of the regular ‘Doggie Sundays’. These are held once a month, with goodies for dogs, but owners are also often treated with live music, food and, once again, that warm welcome. Any one with a dog should come along!
Top doggie pub around, always welcoming, treats and a cuddle are guaranteed and i am sure humans can have one too, just ask. three’s lots of different events going on, great range of beers chinese food and Sunday lunch
Excellent place to take your dog spring ,summer autumn winter rain or shine the only place you will get a pub land lord get on all fours and greet a four legged friend with a smile and biscuit and dogs all love him .super dog friendly pub can be more dogs the people who all look happy and content and know they are welcome
Very friendly pub and even better they love dogs together with loving the ponies, horses and children fabulous atmosphere and the Pink G and T makes it the perfect place to chill!
The best welcome you could ever get our dog Gusta loves it. Steve the landlord always greets us in such a friendly welcoming way with a treat for Gusta. The beer ???? is good too
I have three labradors (was recently 4) and I have never been to a pub that is so doggie focused. Landlord cuddles all dogs and doggie Sunday is a dog fest-first Sunday of the month.
The landlord absolutely loves dogs, this has to win surely! I’ve never known a pub so accommodating above and beyond for dogs. They also have a doggy Sunday where the more dogs the merrier! Dog washing and endless treats on flow it’s briliant!
